Colin’s role involves working with Local Enterprise Partnerships, Devolved Administrations and Universities to raise awareness of the relevance of the space sector and help them to identify how space can support local growth. In addition, Colin is responsible for the UK Space Agency’s Business Incubation and Acceleration activities, supporting start-up companies.
Prior to this role, Colin worked for the Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC), firstly as part of the team that established the International Space Innovation Centre (ISIC) and then working closely with the Technology Strategy Board (now Innovate UK) to establish the Satellite Applications Catapult.
Colin is a strong supporter of technology transfer and knowledge exchange. Early in his career, he worked at the University of Surrey on several projects related to University-Business collaboration. He then moved to the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) where he was responsible for the Agency’s knowledge exchange activities – from innovation networks through to large-scale collaborative R&D projects in sectors as diverse as intelligent transport systems, healthcare technologies, renewable energy and space.
