Dr. Reina specialises in heterogeneous catalysis for energy and sustainability. His research interests are focused on the application of engineered catalysts to different fuel processing technologies to enable the transition from fossil to renewable fuels.

Currently, Dr Reina is leading The Catalysis Unit at the Chemical and Process Engineering Department. His team is developing innovative catalysts and green catalytic processes with potential impact on the hydrogen economy and the next generation of biofuels. Additionally, their investigations towards efficient routes for CO2 conversion into fuels and platform chemicals has been featured by the scientific community.
