Kevin Hetherington has overall responsibility for research, enterprise and scholarship at the OU and is responsible for developing the University’s international reputation for research, scholarship, knowledge exchange and impact. Awarded his PhD in 1993, he joined The Open University in 2005 as Professor of Geography after previously lecturing at the universities of Keele, Brunel and Lancaster. Before taking up his current role in 2015 he was Dean of Social Sciences at The Open University for three years. His research is focused on museums and the heritage sector including looking at their role in the development of cities.
