SPRINT event strengthens connections in Northern Ireland

NEWS: Event highlighted opportunities across the national space value chain, in partnership with UK Space Agency and AstroAgency

Over 70 new connections were made during SPRINT's speed-networking session

SPRINT’s Space Sector Update and Speed Networking event took place on the 24 June in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and featured 12 expert speakers from across the UK Space sector including the UK Space Agency, Satellite Applications Catapult, ADS, the ESA Business Incubation Centre, Thales Alenia Space, Seraphim Space and Innovate UK.

The event was organised and hosted by SPRINT in collaboration with its delivery partners, the UK Space Agency and the strategic space marketing firm, AstroAgency, and presented from the Electronics, Communications and Information Technology (ECIT) research group at Queen’s University Belfast in the historic Titanic Quarter. Delivered in a hybrid format, with around 30 participants attending in person and 40 people logging in remotely and engaging online with other participants and speakers, over 70 new connections were made during our speed-networking session.

The event highlighted opportunities across the national space value chain, from sources of funding, collaborations and partnerships, networking events, to development opportunities and available facilities including ECIT.

The UK’s space industry is targeting significant growth within the next decade, with the publishing of the National Space Strategy last year specifying an objective to level up the country’s space economy through supporting regional activity across the UK. The SPRINT event strengthened connections between space value chain companies and those interested in the sector’s opportunities in Northern Ireland, as well as facilitating new collaborations for those businesses across the wider UK.
