Research in this field uses systems biology and bioinformatic approaches to look at gene expression, signalling and metabolic networks involved in these host-pathogen relationships, using computational biology to develop in silico models that can be applied to these biological systems. We have six independent group leaders in each of the disciplines of virology and bacteriology. Our bacteriologists represent the largest grouping of investigators in Tuberculosis research in the UK. Academics working in this field have raised about £8.7m.
